Star anise is a wonderful flavour across Asian soups, stocks, chicken, duck and pork dishes as well as in seafood recipes. It has sweet and fragrant flavour, similar to aniseed, that suits syrups for poaching pears/fruits, as well as for mulled wine recipes.
